Imagine our enthusiasm when our church decided to host Hallo-wiener nights all over the city! What is a Hallo-wiener night? Basically we invited our neighbors to join us on the driveway on Halloween night for some hotdogs and hanging out before heading out to trick or treat. I'll admit...I wasn't sure if people would show up. We've done this before...at our old house....the showing was an embarrassing 1. Granted we are on a longer street now but I still confident people would come. We had a lot of help from a few friends and Grandma and Grandpa who made their annual end of October visit. Thankfully we had a group of us to organize because 78---YES, 78 neighbors showed up. Not only that, 1500 people total showed up between the other Hallo-wieners our church hosted. If you are looking for a way to meet your neighbors apparently hot dogs on Halloween night are a good start!
Before the festivities, Grandma and Cupcake carved the pumpkin. She later named him, Buster!
During the hot dogs and hang out, Grandma kept Cutie Pie fed and entertained....Grandma was busy! Grandpa was busy too...he was setting up tables, helping count heads, and keeping us organized as we welcomed all these guests to our yard! I'm not sure what we would have done without their help.
We love that we have so many young neighbors on our street. Here is Cupcake's picture with our sweet friend from next door:
The younger siblings couldn't quite keep up this year but I doubt that will be true by next year!!!
Even the dog neighbors dressed up!
All and all Halloween 2012 was a success! And it's November 5th and Cupcake has already helped me to pack away all the decorations from Halloween and move onto our Thanksgiving decor. It seems appropriate to mention I am soooo thankful for her help! She is creative and fun and loves to decorate. How did I get so lucky to be her mom?
